The Woodpecker is an installation created by Marcelina Wellmer during the residency in 2014.

I cleaned the recorded sound of Berlin woodpecker, then I analyzed it by PD (Pure Data), and finally I send it to an Arduino, which controls the solenoid and sensor. The result is that the solenoid knocks exactly like the recorded bird. However, the sensor stops the solenoid for a while whenever somebody moves too close to it. This is exactly as in the forest – if you want to go closer to a bird, it stops singing or knocking.
